Industry-leading SciAps X-550 sets a new performance standard for handheld XRF. Weighing 2.98 lbs. (1.3 kg) with the battery, it’s the smallest, lightest, fastest XRF analyzer on the market. It’s fast on all alloys and as good on aluminums as it is on high temps for the scrap market, and it comes with fully loaded apps for NDT (Residuals, Sulfidic Corrosion, Alloy).

The X-550 uses the industry’s most powerful X-ray tube, operating up to 3x the power in the Beam 2 setting compared to the SciAps X-505 and any other handheld XRF analyzers. The unique geometry and tube power optimize performance for low atomic number measurement applications including sulfidic corrosion (low Si), phosphorus and sulfur, and aluminum alloys, as well as for residuals analysis per API 751 and 5L specifications.

What’s the difference between the premium X-550 and X-505? The answer is simple: Speed on low atomic number elements such as Mg, Al, Si, P and S. When the X-550 runs at about 3x the X-ray power in the “Beam 2” setting (also known as the low voltage setting) compared to the X-505 or other handheld XRF analyzers, the measured intensities from Mg, Al, Si, P and S (plus K, Ca and Cl in other apps) are 3x higher, producing 3x faster measurements with the X-550.

Over the years we’ve created different XRF models for specific purposes across every industry, and we’re still optimizing analyzers to meet the needs of our customers who seek these options. SciAps Classic Capability series now features improved heat dissipation, reduced weight, and new user-interface. All internal electronics now use less power and operate at higher temperatures—no drift or shutdown.

The totally re-engineered X-200, X-250 and X-50 are the lowest priced XRF guns on the market and still best-in-class for analytical and speed performance, with all the accuracy and throughput of the X-550 and X-505. Field-worthy with built-in high resolution camera, high-speed steel shutter to protect the detector between tests, and global connectivity to share results instantly.

X-50 The original “old school” PiN diode technology. Great basic analysis of transition and heavy metals. A great value for analyzing basic alloys including stainless, high temps, copper alloys. [Let’s also mention why this tech was created, and who still likes to use it]

X-250, X-200 Silicon drift-detector (SDD) models. Competitively priced for every performance requirement. This platform weighs about 3.4 lbs, making it about 0.5 lbs heavier than the X-505/550 platform, but still with industry leading speed and precision. The X-250 is the value version of the X-550. The X-200 is the value version of the X-505, similarly sacrificing a little speed on Mg, Si, Al, P and S. SciAps Profile Builder desktop software is loaded with common industry certified reference materials (CRMs with assays), and users may add more for local geochemistry. View calibration curves, generate new ones, build highly customized models for your own elements of interest. Overlay and compare mineral spectra and more. Third-party software compatibility: SciAps is pleased to export data to many third-party software packages, such as mining related software from Leapfrog and IoGlobal. Alloys

Requires 15-20 s to measure 0.3-0.5% Mg in grades such 6063 or 356 or 3004. Basic sorting of SS, high temps and red metals. Only sort Al alloys by MLCs, 2000s and 7000s.

Read more Offers comparable precision, limits of detection and elemental range of other leading XRF brands, but in a lighter weight package, and at a lower price point. Same element suite as the X-100, but with older PiN diode detector technology. Test times will be much longer to achieve same precision as X-100, but X-50 platform lower priced.
