SciAps XRF now pairs with GERDA for automated sampling

May 2, 2022

Woburn, Mass.— SciAps, Inc., is pleased to announce that its popular handheld XRF analyzer is now available in a handleless version to be used in-line with the GERDA automated table sampler for portable and handheld analytical instruments. The new in-line analyzer is easy to mount and has more ruggedized connectors that are perfectly suited for pairing with an industrial system like GERDA.

GERDA, the Geochemical Research and Documentation Assistant, is commonly used for assaying drill cores right in core boxes; assaying stream sediment/soil samples in field bags; assaying RAB, RC drilling chip samples; determination of gold mineralization in crushed rock/drill core samples utilizing NEFFA method; and assaying any 2-D flat objects like paintings, etc. Remote control is available via VPN.

Using SciAps powerful Integrated API, users can seamlessly pair their XRF with GERDA to scan thousands of samples per day. SciAps in-line XRF has been ruggedized to withstand any jarring movement of automated systems, while retaining all the power and connectivity of other SciAps XRF analyzers: premium X-ray hardware for fast, precise results, even on the hardest elements to measure with handheld XRF; Android platform for global connectivity, data storage, merge, and exporting, including access to SciAps Cloud; and an integrated camera with video for sample viewing. SciAps in-line XRF can also be used with the SciAps Test Station for lab and field analysis.

SciAps will be demonstrating the new industrial in-line XRF with GERDA at the PDAC Convention in Toronto in June.

Meffa Lab Oy, of Finland, developed and designed the GERDA. They produce and install the tabletop sampler, and train users, with full technical support and warranty.

SciAps, Inc., is a Boston-based instrumentation company specializing in handheld portable analytical instruments to measure any element, any place on the planet. Their industry-leading X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and laser-based (LIBS) analyzers are at work across every major industry, including oil/gas, metals and mining, aerospace, battery, and strategic metals (lithium, rare-earth elements), scrap metal recycling, chemical and petrochemical, military, forensics, and law enforcement. SciAps instruments are configured to measure elements in all types of materials, so applications are always expanding, recently including space research, pandemic anti-viral coatings, agriculture, and environmental contaminants.

SciAps in-line XRF analyzer is now available to be used with the GERDA system. SciAps users can seamlessly integrate with the tabletop sampler to automatically scan thousands of geochemistry samples per day.
