How It Started

SciAps was born from a simple yet ambitious idea—create the world’s best handheld analyzers. Not just better, but revolutionary. We weren’t interested in making slight improvements to existing technology; we wanted to redefine how industries analyze materials.

We took risks. We pushed boundaries. We listened to real-world users—scrap yards, geologists, researchers, and quality control teams—to build tools that truly meet their needs.

Our mission: Measure any element, any chemical, any mineral, anywhere on the planet.

We started 12 years ago with LIBS, developing the first handheld analyzer to measure carbon and carbon equivalents in steels. Now, our LIBS is the industry’s first handheld capable of measuring elements like lithium and beryllium.

After 25 years of no innovation in XRF technology, SciAps developed the fastest aluminum sorting technology with the X-550 XRF. Customers can now measure Mg as low as .25% in 1 second in aluminum alloys—all in a high performance, rugged, field-ready design. 

And we didn’t stop there. Most recently, we reinvented the world of NIR with the SciAps reveNIR, a handheld Vis-NIR (Near-infrared spectroscopy) analyzer designed to deliver unmatched performance in mineral reconnaissance and exploration. Geologists and exploration teams working in the most remote locations now have a tool that offers precise and efficient mineralogical analysis in the field, enabling better decision-making and faster progress.

Where We Are Now

Today, SciAps analyzers are used in recycling, mining, aerospace, manufacturing, oil and gas, academia, and beyond. Whether it’s helping lithium miners power the EV revolution or giving scrap yards instant alloy verification, we’re solving real problems in real time.

We’ve also expanded. Our new Andover, MA headquarters fuels our innovation with dedicated floors for R&D, service, manufacturing, and sales. We’re bigger, but we’re still fast, responsive, and driven by customer needs.
